Classic Green Smoothie
Recipe type: Smoothie
  • 1 cup frozen Maine wild blueberries (BJs has value packs)
  • ½ cup Greens (for example dandelions, kale, baby spinach or parsley)
  • ½ banana, fresh or frozen (I often freeze mine, already chopped, with skin removed)
  • ¼ green cucumber, chopped
  • ¼-1/2 avocado flesh
  • 2 TBSP ground flax seeds or chia seeds
  • 1 TBSP Tahini paste (or almond butter, sunflower butter)
  • 1 cup dairy alternative (rice milk, coconut milk, almond milk) – this gives it a creamier taste
  • 1 scoop protein powder (whey protein, pea protein or rice protein)
  1. Whizz away, frozen bananas will clonk a lout louder…and ENJOY!
To add variety, add 2 TBSP avocado or a 2” piece of cucumber or ¼- ½ mango
For a spice punch, add a tiny (!) piece of ginger, or ½ tsp cinnamon, ¼ cup raw cacao

The blueberry – green combination often leads to a more grey final color. I don’t mind this as I drink it right away and know what liquid goodness I am smothering my body with.

If the color bothers you, reduce the amount of greens, or leave out the blueberries and make these in a separate smoothie another day without the greens.
