Work with Me in One of Three Ways
IMMEDIATE SUPPORT – SINGLE SESSION
Immediate Support
Single intensive strategy session (75 min) to help you make the decision that is right for you at this crucial time of your life.
This session is for you if you are suddenly confronted with a cancer diagnosis, are caught up in a whirlwind of medical jargon, feeling a bit violated by all the prodding and poking from various diagnostic tests, are under time pressure to make decisions you are not ready for.
This session gives you the space and perspective you need to evaluate all your options so you can feel empowered to make the right treatment decision that you feel most comfortable with.
I will help you understand what you really need to consider and plan for when confronted with the wide range of choices out there, and what they each imply physically, mentally and financially. You will be able to reclaim some dignity and control over how your immediate future will unfold.
Conventional cancer treatments such as chemotherapy, radiation, surgery and various targeted therapies generally adopt a disease approach. Their main focus is on dealing with the actual cancer cells. Research is increasingly showing that by also influencing the biochemical environment the cancer cells live in, a patient can pro-actively take part in their fight against cancer. I will teach you how you can do this.
This is a perfect fit if you are considering a more integrative and complementary approach, or possibly even an alternative approach, but are unsure about which path is the right one for you. You may be overwhelmed, undecided, and need to speak to an expert who has been there personally but also offers a professional view on what options you can realistically consider, and what to expect of them.
What is Included in a Single Strategy Session
An overview of 3 treatment modalities: Conventional, Integrative and Complementary and Alternative (non-conventional). We will chat frankly about all the things you should consider BEFORE making your final decision
An overview of how you need to prepare yourself should you decide to go the conventional treatment route, including which functional tests you should consider doing BEFOREHAND to optimize treatment success
An overview of available complementary tools you can apply in conjunction with your standard of care treatment to help your body cope with the rigorous, body-weakening side effects always associated with conventional treatments
Nutritional Cancer Care Guidelines for self-implementation
The Goal
The Goal of this intensive strategy session is to give you clarity and make it easier for you to decide on the best treatment path for you to optimize your cancer healing strategy.
We will focus on these main areas as they relate to your individual situation
Nutritional Options during and after treatments
How best to help your body through treatments to maintain your strength and help you stay nourished to prevent excessive treatment-induced weight loss (or weight gain), this includes meal plans, lots of delicious recipes & many practical tips, always taking your budget and preferences into account.
You need to gain your strength back and help your body recover from the toxicity left behind by treatments. This requires an intake of targeted nutrients.
Optimal Nutrition Intake
Is there a true anti-cancer diet? Which foods to include, limit or avoid and why this may or may not be the right fit for you. Your biochemical individuality determines what is an optimal diet for you.
Complementary Supplement Support
Supplements need to enhance, not counteract treatments and need to be in agreement with your oncology team. I work closely with an integrative pharmacy and together we ensure that there are no adverse drug-nutrient interactions for your particular treatment regimen and any vitamins, minerals or herbs that may be helpful to you. After treatments, supplements can help strengthen your immune system and counteract lingering inflammation caused by your treatments. Micronutrient testing to highlight any nutritional deficiencies is a highly recommended optional Lab blood test covered by most health insurances.
Side Effect Management
Side Effect Management to complement what you have been given from your team which includes a range of natural options that not only suppress symptoms but help your body heal at the same time.
Digestive System Repair & Optimal Digestion & Nutrient Absorption
Treatments often cause injuries to your gastrointestinal tract that prevent proper nutrient absorption at a time when your body needs to be nourished the most. This is often not addressed by conventional oncology, and you may be wondering why your recovery is so slow despite you making good meal choices.
We can only gain nourishing nutrients from great foods if our bodies are able to digest and absorb them. Let’s get up close and personal with your GI tract to find out what is going on in there. This includes an easy to administer GI repair protocol to ultimately enhance nutrient absorption. This may include optional additional functional testing.
Motivational and Mindfulness Strategies
Motivational and Mindfulness Strategies to keep you on track and help you navigate your way through the overwhelm often associated with this period in your life.
Lifestyle Modifications to reduce toxic exposure
Lifestyle Modifications to help you optimize your personal environment and your exposure to toxic ingredients.
Emotional Healing
Emotional Healing is often the most challenging aspect of your cancer recovery journey, but no less significant than dealing with the actual tumor. You will be introduced to emotional healing techniques to enable you to connect with a modality that you feel most comfortable with.
Personal Tips
Lots of personal tips from my own experience having gone through treatments twice, and having relied heavily on my integrative approach to help me cope, physically, mentally and emotionally
COMPREHENSIVE MENTORING PACKAGES
Comprehensive Mentoring Packages
Step-by-Step Support to help you successfully cope with your cancer treatments, and implement everything you will learn about how to take care of your health and environment to transform your cancer journey.
These in-depth mentoring sessions are for you if you are determined to support yourself during active treatments beyond the care of your standard cancer center. I remember the physical pain, secret doubts and lingering fears of this stage well, having been through it twice myself. Although you made the decision to go ahead with it, you still are taken aback by the real consequences of subjecting your body to the harsh toxicity of conventional treatments, and the lack of real physical, mental and emotional support offered by the traditional medical environment. I fill this gap in care and guide you through this unsettling time with targeted, individualized support you won’t receive elsewhere.
They are also a great fit if you have just completed standard cancer treatments, are feeling vulnerable at being “on your own”, anxious to know what you can do differently to prevent a recurrence, and are struggling a little to find your new identity as a “cancer survivor”.
This is easily your most vulnerable time: physically you are at your weakest point as the accumulated effects of the treatments have taken their toll. Emotionally you feel lonely and somewhat disassociated from everyone who has not been through the same as you. Mentally you are trying to figure out how to gather up the courage to tell your friends, family or co-workers that life will be different from now on, and you still need to figure this all out. Finding your New Normal isn’t as easy as what you had anticipated over the last few months. I have got you at this vulnerable time, and together we will work out a practical path that helps you restore your strength and confidence so you can become a thriving survivor.
Maybe you have beaten cancer, are officially in remission, and want to make sure you are doing what it takes to stay cancer free. You cannot help it, but the cancer shadow is creeping in, and underlying worry and fear has become a nagging companion. I REALLY understand this stage, as I am in it for life myself! No matter what you do, sometimes life gets in the way. You have adopted certain new healthy habits wholeheartedly, but others may have slipped by the wayside even though they solidify your foundation for vibrant health. So you start worrying if you are doing enough. You may find new research about what we should or shouldn’t do to be cancer-free, and it conflicts with what you have read before. I can help get you back on the path of evidence-based, yet practical lifestyle habits to ease your fears and restore your confidence as a cancer thriver.
When Working with Me
Our mentoring relationship is a partnership. In my capacity as your mentor, I utilize the vast knowledge I gained over the years researching evidence-based integrative oncology. It is my role to educate, guide and support you so that you are able to understand the immense benefits of these lifestyle changes, and motivate yourself to implement them in a step-by-step way. Accountability is key as implementing changes can be hard work. I break it all down into short and long-term goals, easy manageable steps, and help you overcome subconscious self-sabotage. However, the action needs to be taken by yourself, and only you can ultimately show up for yourself, and achieve the success you wish to see.
